Poland has an interesting tradition called Fat Thursday. I think it's somehow tied into giving up something for lent, a Catholic practice....On Fat Thursday everyone
gorges themselves in preparation for giving something up on Friday.
The food of choice is płączki---a filled donut.
So naturally, we had to try out this tradition too.
The missionaries had a contest to see who could eat the most....

that's crazy. i don't know how he did it. sounds like a fun tradition, though, and a good excuse to forget the diet for a day!
dude, that guy had to have been puking all night after eating 40 of those. crikeys. but great excuse to gorge on sweets! why don't we do that? oh wait... that's everyday for americans.
